LifeCare Ambulance is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Ambulance Senior Billing Specialist. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of ambulance transport claims, ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance providers. Job Description:

As a Senior Billing Specialist at LifeCare Ambulance you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the billing operations for our EMR and EMS departments. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare billing practices, excellent attention to detail, and a strong background in EMR and EMS billing procedures.

Competences and functions include: 

-Execution of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) medical billing system with emphasis on ensuring funds due to LifeCare Ambulance Service are received from public and private insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid Services

-Oversee the duties and functions of subordinate staff; Expertise in the protocols of private and public insurance carriers and the regulations that govern them 

-Processes accounting and financial transactions that require a high level of independent judgment in researching and reconciling discrepancies

-Interpret and apply Federal and State rules, regulations, statutes, and guidance.

 -The position reports to the executive director.

Key Responsibilities:

– Manage and process billing for both the EMR and EMS departments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

– Analyze and review medical records to determine appropriate billing codes and charges.

– Resolve billing discrepancies, denied claims, and appeals in a timely manner.

– Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to ensure accurate documentation for billing purposes.

– Stay up-to-date with changes in healthcare billing regulations and guidelines.

– Monitor and report on billing performance metrics to improve revenue cycle management.

– Reporting to the senior executives 

Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field preferred.

– Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing, with a focus on EMS and EMR billing.

– Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

– Strong knowledge of healthcare coding systems (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).

– Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

– Familiarity with Massachusetts and New Hampshire healthcare billing regulations.

– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
